Homework for Thursday (11/13)

We are beginning to read sections of Lyddie, a novel by Katherine Paterson to help us learn what life was like for girls working in the Lowell mills during the Industrial Revolution. The entire reading schedule can be found on the sheet I passed out today, and also to side of this page.

For Monday, you are tasked with reading Ch. 7-9 (If you want to read the first 7 chapters, feel free. This is optional, and not required for the essay)

You should mark up these chapters using the marking up options I showed in class. Basically you want to constantly by thinking, "How is reading this book helping me write the essay about whether or not life in the Lowell Mills was more beneficial or harmful to the girls who went to work there?"

Don't get caught up taking down a ton of notes (although you should take some). Instead, mark quotes from the book that you think help to highlight GOOD and BAD things about life during this time.
