Yeoman Farmers -- Who were they? And what would they watch, sing, or play today?

Your assignment this weekend is to learn more about the Yeoman farmers of the South. You should read the text Life of a Yeoman Farmer, attached here if you need it.

Then, you need to choose 1 of 3 activities to go along with the reading. Each asks you to try to connect what you've learned about Yeoman farmers to life today. You may work on this activity individually, or in pairs. This is due Monday 12/21.

Directions: Read and mark up the reading on yeoman farmers (individually). When you are done, do one of these three tasks (either individually, or in pairs). Think about how you can show what you know about yeoman farmers, their daily life, their struggles, what they did for work and for fun, what they dreamed about, etc.

YO- TV

On blank sheet of unlined paper, design an Advertisement for a real or imaginary TV show(s) that yeoman farmers and/or their wives and families would want to watch. On the back, explain why they would like it.

YO-RAP

On white lined paper, create a rap or set lyrics to a current song summarizing what we know about the life of yeomen farmers. Be sure to have a creative title to go along with your lyrics.

YO-Wii

Create a Wii video game with yeoman farmers as the main characters. Create a still shot of one scene of the game on a blank sheet of unlined paper, and explain some of the highlights of the game on the back.
