Map Identification: Be able to answer questions based on the West Expansion Map.  Identify the region, know how the US obtained it and the important dates associated with it.

Chronology: Know the order of the following events: US Obtains Florida, All the events related to Tejas/Texas: Texas independence from Mexico, Annexation of Texas, Mexican-American War beginning/ending; Oregon Cession, Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, Gadsden Purchase

In the Western Movements reading (pgs 220-230 handout), the text highlights several groups who experienced first-hand the challenges and opportunities of moving west. You should be able to discuss one (of your choosing) and be able to talk about who they were and what their legacy (impact) was for future people in the US
