Homework for weekend

This weekend you are tasked with reviewing the events of Tejas/Texas history and putting 8 events in chronological order (from first to last). This will ABSOLUTELY help prepare you for the quiz that is on Wed 1/16.

Map Identification---Be able to fill out the expansion map for all sections. In other words, be able to identify them and how we obtained all land up through Texas statehood.

Questions to Study
·      What is Manifest Destiny and why did it take hold over the U.S. in the mid-1800’s? What are the many driving forces, or reasons, for why Manifest Destiny is an idea that is popular with many Americans during this time?
·      When, why, and how did the United States expand to control land from coast to coast (at this point to Texas)?
·      What were differing views on the Annexation and why? 
·      How does Mexico feel as they look at what is happening to Tejas/Texas in the 1820s-1830s-1840s?
