Emancipation Proclamation Reaction Analysis (HW Thurs 4/16)

Thursday's HW:

Your task is to analyze two images created by artists in response to Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation. The first image is by V. Blada and the other image is by David Blythe. Copies will be passed out in class. For each image you are to answer the following questions:

1) Identify the objects or people you see in the cartoon
2) Which of the objects on your list are symbols?
3) What do you think each symbol means?
4) What is the overall message of the cartoon?

Due: Friday
