West Project

Ok, so today was the first day of introducing the project you'll be working on for the next 4 days in the library. The final project (2 parts -- we'll go over the specifics in class) will be due on Monday 3/15. Don't worry about this due date yet. If you have lost any materials, or need new copies, check out this link here to the WMS Library, or you can click here for my link to docs.

There will be nightly assignments, the first being to go home and read through all the possible topics, and choose your TOP 10. Due tomorrow, Friday

We'll do a lottery tomorrow where you will be able to select one to be your focus.

I know there are a bunch of students are going to be absent on Fri. For you, and I spoke to most individually today if you checked in as I asked, I am asking you to do the following:
1. Choose your top 10, and e-mail them to me. in order 1-10, with the one you want to do most first.
2. Sign up for Noodletools, using the sheet you can find here.
3. once you have e-mailed me your list, I'll write back and give you the topic that you will be assigned. Your job this weekend is to do some very preliminary research online to get more familiar with your topic (don't start worrying about the bibliography, Noodletools, etc yet). You are expected to create 3-4 questions that you truly want to know the answers to (you might end up revising these as you go along, but these should be questions that will require some legitimate research on you part. Due Monday
Example: Women of the West: What types of jobs were available to women who settled in California? Were there any women to find gold? Were women allowed to own property/have more rights than they did back East?
